Portia and Dwight Married!

Portia and Dwight were married at the Four Seasons Aviara. The perfect couple got the perfect day! With Portia’s mom, Belita Butler, owner of Events Above and Beyond, doing double duty as mother-of-the-bride and coordinator, everything ran like clock work and looked like a million bucks.

LIANA AND RICK - ENGAGED!

Liana and Rick are getting ready to jet off to Indonesia for their wedding in September. Did I mention that I love shooting destination weddings? : ) They are friends of mine from a pool league that we participate in on Monday nights. So, we’re used to shooting together… just a different kind of shooting. I enjoy photographing friends because the rapport is already there so it’s that much easier to jump right in. They were great to work with, bringing tons of energy and openness to the shoot. We had a busy afternoon starting in Balboa Park,  then heading downtown and finally catching sunset at the beach in La Jolla. I bet Liana will wear more comfortable shoes next time!

Enjoy the photos…

The Maestro

Galen has taken a liking to the piano! We couldn’t be happier. Music is an important part of our lives and we hope he shares in that love too.

RENEE + JAMES WEDDING DAY!

Renee and James were married on the banks of Big Bear Lake. I was second shooter on this one with my friend John Watkins. Destination weddings are so much fun. And getting out of the city brings a certain kind of inspiration that helps the photographer’s eye to see things in a fresh, new way. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to be shooting a bride like Renee whose skin the camera loved, or a groom like James whose easy-going personality made getting each shot such a breeze. This was a sweet but elegant affair with just the touch of nature that makes everyone feel good, relaxed, and ready to enjoy a celebration. Congratulations Renee and James!

“Can we have the rings please!”

BETH + STEVE - WEDDING DAY!

For me, a job goes from good to great when the couple I’m shooting, who I may have met only once or twice before, become so comfortable and so relaxed with me on their wedding day that it feels like I’m working with old friends. That’s how shooting was for me as Beth’s and Steve’s wedding photographer. Their wedding was an exquisite event… set in a private park, delicious food, gorgeous flowers, and most importantly– a lot of really wonderful people who were clearly happy to be there and happy to embrace this couple. Work like that is just plain fun! It was my pleasure to work for the first time with Christopher Durst of Events by Christopher. And, as always, Terri Rippee, one of my all time favorite second shooters, was first-rate. The beautiful flowers were done by Flowers ~ Annette Gomez. Enjoy the photos!
